The European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) are natural partners. We are key partners in strengthening the rules-based international order, standing together for democracy, human rights and international peace and security.
The EU and LAC have a deep-rooted and strong relationship based on a broad range of agreements.
The fast-changing global context with its increasing geopolitical challenges are a critical moment to renew this partnership and enhance our cooperation. We must tackle the global climate and environmental crises, technological changes and rising inequalities together.
This is an important juncture for the EU-LAC relations with the new New Agenda for relations between the EU and LAC, the President’s visit to the region and the forthcoming EU-CELAC Summit in July.
