South Carolina Man Drowns in New Hampshire Lake

BRISTOL, N.H. — On Monday, New Hampshire State Police received the report of a possible drowning near Arrowhead Point Road on Newfound Lake in Bristol.

Around 6:15 p.m., police received information about a swimmer who had gone into the water and had not come back to shore.

Bristol Fire Department was first on scene and was able to put a boat in the water and immediately begin a search.

Shortly after the start of the search, the victim was located approximately 140 feet from the shore of the residence he was staying at.

The victim, identified as 38-year-old Ole Romero of Charleston, South Carolina, was transported to Wellington State Park, where an ambulance was waiting. Lifesaving measures were attempted, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The death is being investigated by Marine Patrol and is not considered suspicious at this time.
