Thousands of AEP Customers Without Power in Virginia

The Appalachian Power outage map reports that thousands of its customers remain without power across Virginia, as winds continue to blow across the region.

Outages have spread across several areas including Galax, Pulaski, Rocky Mount, Montgomery County, Lynchburg, Wytheville, Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Rurul Retreat, Martinsville, and Roanoke.

In a Facebook post, AEP stated crews are working to restore power as safely and quickly as possible, however, forecast wind gusts and speeds above 30 mph can delay restorations. At this time, it is unknown when power may be fully restored.

The power company reminds the community that if they see a downed power line to stay away, keep others away, and call 911 immediately.
